Friends and Dry Embossing

Good Monday Morning to you!  I'm here with another Friends of Speedy TV challenge and this week we are using dry embossing on our cards.  I elected to dry emboss the base of my card.  I do that often as it fits nicely with my CAS style.  I think the embossing adds a lovely bit of interest without cluttering up my design.  I chose these sweet flowers from Lots of Words and added a sentiment from the set too.  I know that I am not the only person who struggles with their camera, so I will go ahead and say that in real life, the blue sentiment strip matches the palest blue in the flowers. A very fine black line around my image and my sentiment finishes off today's card.
Don't forget....Mark's Finest Papers offers a stamp set to one lucky participant each week.  This week the stamp set up for grabs is called Snow Gifts.  Here is a peek at it.
All you have to do is play along and link up your card!  Won't you play along with us?

Thanks for stopping by!

Friends and Easels

It's a happy Monday and a holiday here in the U.S.  It's Martin Luther King Jr. Day and that means there is no school for me.  The Friends of Speedy TV challenge for today is to make an easel card, of any variety.  My easel card features the Mark's Finest Papers set called Oh Beans.  I masked off the bottom cup and then stamped them on pattern paper.  I colored my cups and added some rhinestones to a couple of the cups.  I followed suit with the beans on the card base that helps the easel stand!  I find that a border punch adds just the right amount of pop and helps the card stand up better.
Don't forget that for every Mark's Finest Paper challenge, a stamp set is offered.  Today's stamp set that is up for grabs is the Snowball Mini stamp set.
Thanks for stopping by!

Details - Stamps: Oh Beans (MFP); Paper: Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, American Crafts dp; Ink: Rich Cocoa, Early Espresso; Accessories: Copic Markers, MS Arch Lattice border punch, Recollections rhinestones, Scor-tape.

Yikes A Mouse - A Mark' s Finest Papers, A Heinrich Company Blog Hop

Oh man!   Did I enjoy this!  I think that little mouse is absolutely darling.  It's time again to check out some more new Mark's Finest Papers sets. This image comes from the free mini set called Yikes a Mouse. My card today is featured on the Mark's Finest Paper blog and that is where you will find the rest of the links for today's blog hop.  After Christmas, I took advantage of some sales and picked up some warm gray Copic Markers and that is how I colored up this little guy!  He has a rose color just inside his ear!  I hope you like my cheese.  I wish I could have sponged it with the same color ink or water mark ink.  However, I was stamping with my cousin at a girl's getaway and couldn't remember to bring everything.
Thanks for stopping by!

Details - Stamps: Yikes A Mouse (MFP); Paper: Neenah Solar Crest White, Apricot Appeal; Ink: Tuxedo Black; Accessories: Nestabilities, circle punches, Copic Markers, stmapin' dimensionals, paper snips.

Umbrellas and Fans - A Mark's Finest Papers, A Heinrich Company Blog Hop

It's time to check out some more new Mark's Finest Papers sets. This image comes from a set called Umbrellas and Fans. My card today is featured on the Mark's Finest Paper blog and that is where you will find the rest of the links for today's blog hop. Just recently, I spent an entire day paper crafting with my cousin and had to make do with what I could pack in the back of my car.  I have an entire craft room and it was just not possible to bring the whole room.  I whittled down my supplies to one under the bed plastic tub and two large tote bags.  Still, I didn't have matching card stock when I went to work on this card.  So I used the same coral and gray Copic Markers that I used on my umbrella to edge a couple of white mats which matched.  Believe it or not, this card is made with all white card stock!
Thanks for stopping by!
Details - Stamps: Umbrellas and Fans(MFP); Paper: Neenah Solar Crest White, unknown dp; Ink: Tuxedo Black; Accessories: Square Lattice embossing folder, Copic Markers, stmapin' dimensionals.

Paper Dolls - A Mark's Finest Papers Extravaganza

If you have been following along, you saw these great images in last week's blog hop!  Mark's Finest Papers has put out three sets related to paper dolls.  While I am very young at heart, I am old enough to remember papers and all the fun I had.  Even made seven year old has played with papers dolls.  But did you know that Mark's Finest Papers has a cool feature going on at the company blog in addition to this month's hop?  Here are the details:

Mark's Finest Papers a Heinrich Co. has a new line of Paper Dolls! For 18 days we will feature the new Paper Doll Sets on the MFP Blog (http://marksfinestpapers.blogspot.com) and on MFPSpeedyTV.ning.com

Some of the projects will feature tutorials, too! You will be surprised and delighted by some of the designers’ projects. From traditional paper dolls to scrapbook pages to creative tags and cards, the ideas are endless! Be sure to visit each day to see a new and beautiful paper doll project.

This paper doll cutie is ready to get her game on!  I stamped, colored and trimmed out  my doll, her tennis outfit, her racket and her tennis shoes.  I created my background with the paper doll stand that attaches perpendicular to the doll.  She's ready for some fun, are you?

Thanks for stopping by!

Details - Stamps: Paper Doll (MFP); Paper: Crumb Cake, GKD White; Ink: Rich Cocoa, Crumb Cake, Early Espresso; Accessories: Craft knife, self healing mat, paper snips, corner chomper, Copic Markers, two way glue pen, stampin' dimensionals.

Swans - A Mark's Finest Papers, A Heinrich Company Blog Hop

It's time to check out some more new Mark's Finest Papers sets.  This image comes from a set called Swans.  My card today is featured on the Mark's Finest Paper blog and that is where you will find the rest of the links for today's blog hop.  Just recently, I spent an entire day paper crafting with my cousin and she shared some of her papers with me.  She gave me this water paper which I cut with her fancy paper trimmer and a scalloped blade.  I sponged the scallops for a little more definition.  After I stamped my swans, I drew in and colored a little heart to emphasize my sentiment!

Friends and Black and White (01/13/14)

Welcome back!  It's Monday and it's time for a Friends of Speedy TV challenge.  Today, we are working on creating a black and white card.  The cow from Country Charm really spoke to me, so I pulled out Scenic Selections and added a few tufts of grass and some birds.  I sponged black ink across the bottom of the card.  I added a black and white gingham ribbon to finish it off.  This is such a simple card, I felt like I was cheating a bit!
Let's not forget that Mark's Finest Papers offers up a free stamp set for one lucky participant.  Today's set that is up for grabs is called Corn Ears.  Check it out!
Thanks for stopping by!  Stay tuned for a few other posts today!

Here's the Design Team: Lois, Kelli Jo, Pat G, Karen , Kathy, Toni, Janine, Shirley Q, Gail, Vickie, Marks Finest Papers, a Heinrich Co.

I wanted to show a bit about how I created today's card.  First up, I did some selective inking.  I used some post-its to cover up the tabs on my dolls outfit and then tapped my ink pad over the stamp.  I removed my post-its and then stamped the outfit.
Then I stamped and trimmed out a mask for the outfit.
Next, I stamped my paper doll over the top of my mask.
I peeled back my mask, colored my paper doll and her outfit and then trimmed her out.  May I now present the out in winter paper doll.
Finally, I created a card to showcase this darling paper doll!  I found some fun light gray polka dotted paper to back out my sweet doll!
Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day.  Off you go to Janine now.

Today, I offer you a beautiful anniversary dress!  Our model from Paper Doll has donned some Formal Wear for her anniversary dinner.  In addition to her lovely dress, she has a jewelled collar and some sparkling stones in her ears and on her wrist.  For my part, I paper pieced the dress and colored my model.  I was just lucky enough to find some lipstick a Touch Twin marker that matched her dress.  This is also a bit of wishful thinking on my part as my hubby will be gone this year on our anniversary.  Not that twelve years is a substantial anniversary, but I would love to dress as fancy as this doll for a night on the town!

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day.  Off you go to Janine now.

Today's card is a modified concertina card!  I scored my card a couple of times and created three panels.  On these panels I stamped my paper doll and her tennis outfit, racket and stand.  A few sentiments stamped over three panels make a fun birthday card for a young lady!  As I was stamping this card my daughter wandered into my craft room and asked what I was doing.  I told her that I was stamping and she corrected me to say that I was making paper dolls.  It won't be long now until she asks to come and stamp her own paper dolls!

Friends and Resolutions (01/06/14)

Good morning!  It's Monday, the first Monday of the New Year and it's time for another Friends of Speedy TV challenges.  Today, we are making a card related to our resolutions for the New Year.  I'm tired of being late and the stress that it carries.  I think that being late or being on time is within my control 85% of the time and this year I resolve to be on time!  I want to be on time in my daily life, in my work life and in my crafty life!  I think this could make a big difference for me.  My card is simple, in my typical style.  I have an embossed card base and a simple design working for me.  I have the pocket watch image and the sentiment stamped below.  I colored some pearls with a Touch Twin marker and accented my sentiment with the colored pearls.

I hope you get to play along this week.  Mark's Finest Papers offers up a free stamp set for one lucky participant in the Friends of Speedy TV challenge

Thanks for stopping by!

Details: Stamps: Take Time (MFP); Paper: Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake; Ink: Crumb Cake; Accessories: Recollections pearls, Touch Twin marker, corner chomper, Linen & Canvas impression plate (PTI), stampin' dimensinals.

Welcome 2014 and a New Crafty Goal

It's the first day of 2014 and I'm very excited for the New Year.  I don't think I am much different from other folks that I get excited, make resolutions and then dwindle in my enthusiasm.  So my goal for this year works for my personal and crafty life.  I am going to be on time.  I want to be done with the Late Louie version of myself.  So I played along with the Ways To Use It challenge hostessed by Michelle today.  It's all about making resolutions and then taking the first step to keep them.  For me, I finished my sample card, got it posted for Michelle, got it uploaded on Splitcoaststampers and now I am blogging about it here!

I can't recall what my resolutions from last year were...definitely a sign of a poor resolution keeper!  Better organization may have been one of my goals as I know that organization is always something I struggle to maintain.  My craft room in particular is huge challenge.  I have been making headway today as I am taking my mother's advice.  She suggested that I focus on one wall at a time.  A pleasant result of trying it her way is that I was able to clear out 4 or 5 boxes from the upstairs hallway and that will make my husband happy.  I have also been working with a Declutter Calendar for the last couple of years and I am making progress with it too.

Thanks for stopping by!  Happy New Year!
