Friends and Tissue (sniff, sniff)

Good morning!  I'm a lot late posting my Friends of Speedy TV challenge card.  The challenge is still live and you have a couple of days to participate.  I wanted to have this up Monday, but impending deadlines and a weekend tax appointment kept me from getting this up.  Back to the challenge, this week we are using tissue on our cards and I did the faux silk technique on my card.  For me, this card is something I like more and more each time I see it.  I had fun with some more collage work and Stickles!  I have not been able to put the Stickles down.  Four out of the last five cards I have made lately are glittered up with Stickles.  Hopefully, you can see the bit of sparkle on the dragonflies!
I hope you play along this week.  The mini stamp set that Mark's Finest Papers is offering up this week is one of my favorites, Lily of the Valley.  I love this set not only for the sweet flowers (my daughter's birth flower), but also for the gorgeous font!  Take a peek -
Thanks for stopping by!  Have a wonderful weekend!

Friends and Tents (02/17/14)

Good Morning!  Happy Presidents Day to all of my United States readers!  It's a holiday so I hope you are all enjoying yourselves.  Me, I'm cleaning and crafting as my little girl enjoys some cousin fun.  My niece has to work, so her daughter is her playing with mine.  No work for me because all the schools are closed.  But you came for the Friends of Speedy TV challenge.  This week we are making Tent Cards.  This was a new one for me and I struggled just a bit to make it work.
As always, Mark's Finest Papers offers a stamp set to one lucky participant.  This week the set is Broom Rides.  Here's look at the set.
I hope you all can play along this week!  Thanks for stopping by!

Incidentally, my tent card also qualifies for the current Scor-Pal More Than One Score challenge too.  My flower in this case is the lotus!

I'm soooo not an orange girl, but I know lots of people who love the color.  I used it today because the bill and feet on my duck absolutely called out for it.  I did a tiny bit of coloring on my duck and then scribble doodled my border.  I stamped the "QUACK" sentiment and then drew my speech bubble around it and trimmed it out.  A couple of layers and a few pieces of dimensional adhesive finish off the card!

Eeeeek!  Can you believe it?  Pink and glittery mushrooms?  I think the only place you would find these are in Fairy Land and folks we have arrived!  Fairies has some cute images.  I opted for the fun mushrooms and the fairy silhouettes and pulled colors from some old patterned paper.  I started off thinking of a cyber friend who loves pink and colored the mushrooms.  Then I began to think of a co-worker who does wonderful things for our staff and the students we work with.  Another co-worker told me that she goes all out for Valentine's Day, as it is one of her favorite holiday.  I think I will write a heartfelt note in this and give it to her.

Did you see this medallion!  It's big and bold and fun to emboss!  I embossed this baby in silver embossing powder for a lovely shine!  Then I fussy cut it out...while watching/listening to the Olympics!  I stamped and fussy cut a second medallion for the back of my card.  I furthter embellished the front of my medallion card with a die cut red glitter heart and a banner with the "hugs!" sentiment from the same set.  Easy-peasy lemon squeezy and now you have a pretty shaped card ready to go.

Friends, Green and Grey

Happy Monday!  If you are arriving for the first time this week, you will also find yourself in the middle of the February Release Blog Hop.  It's good stuff, you will want to hop around and check it out!  This card is for today's Friends of Speedy TV challenge, which is a bit of  a color challenge.  The colors for this challenge are using green and grey.  As always, I have thrown a copious amount of a neutral in there too.  The neutral of choice for today is Confetti White.  I masked all of my leaves and then stamped and colored to get my leafy look.  Then I stamped my sentiment right over the top.  I finished off my card with some knotted neutral twine.  Now I have a birthday card fit for either a man or a woman.

I hope you will play along with the other friends at Speedy TV and take a chance to win a new mini set.  This week's mini set is Gullible.  This is a cute little set and one I wish I had in my collection!
Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful week!  Don't forget to come back tomorrow for a look at more new Mark's Finest Papers stamps!

Details - Stamps: Be Virtuous (MFP), Tigers (MFP); Paper: Confetti White; Ink: Mellow Moss, London Fog, Tuxedo Black; Accessories: Copic Marker, May Arts Burlap twine, stampin' dimensionals.

Love, love, love these birdcages!  I stamped the birdcage on vellum and then embossed it with black embossing powder.  I cut a door to leave open (matching my 'uncaged bird' sentiment) with a craft knife and then I trimmed out the whole cage.  Three strips of washi tape behind a popped up double die cut scalloped circle make up the backdrop for my embossed cage!
