"Winter Fun" More Than One Score challenge

Hello Crafty Friends!  We are almost all the way through the December challenge.  I thought I would post now and give you are reminder about this month's More Than One Score challenge via Scor-Pal!  It's a fun one and maybe you have a little extra time at the end of the year.  The theme is Winter Fun or Winter Holidays and our hostess is Lois Bak!

For my winter fun project, I made a cardfolio.  It's a great way to package cards to give as gifts.  This one went to my daughter's teacher (who actually forwarded me the original pin I used to create this project).
Inside, you can tuck a dozen cards easily with the envelopes.  If they are a bit layered up, you may have to reduce the number you place inside.
I hope you get the chance to play along with us this month!

Thanks for stopping by!

Details - Stamps: Big Trees (MFP), Itty Bitty Backgrounds (SU), Ornamental Christmas (Verve), Warm Winter Wishes (Flourishes); Paper: Thoroughly Modern, Crumb Cake, Smooth White; Ink: So Saffron, Soft Sky, Bermuda Bay, Island Indigo, Night of Navy, Versamark; Accessories: Scor-Pal, Scor-tape, IO snowflake dies, recollections rhinestones, silver cording, glue dots, stampin' sponges, stampin' dimensionals, Crumb Cake taffeta ribbon, heat tool, clear embossing powder, sponge daubers.

Today's card is a wedding card.  The clean and simple style really works for me and this fabulous font from the Lily of the Valley set lends a touch of elegance to the card.  After this card, I think I have covered most of the personal holidays with my engagement, retirement, birthday and wedding cards.  I hope everyone has a wonderful day, I will be out in the crowds enjoying a little holiday shopping.  It may sound crazy, but its how I begin to get in the Christmas mood.

This concludes our celebrations hop. Thanks for following along all week.  I hope you have been inspired to begin work on your own celebration projects.  Get to work on the tutorials, show us what you made by December 11 and check back on December 12, 2015 to see if you are a winner.

Happy Thanksgiving!  Today's featured card is a birthday card and I just wanted to make something pretty. My co-workers have been asking me to bring in my cards, so I need to replenish my stash.  I used three markers to ink up my stamp and then used a blender pen to move the color around a bit.  I added some sponging and bit of sparkle via a Sakura gel pen.  As most of you probably know, glitter is notoriously difficult to photograph.  I hope you are enjoying the themed hops that MFP Stamp Shop has been hosting.  I love them because it gives me a chance to show off some of the great sets that have been previously released.

Enjoy the Hop and come back each day for more "celebrating". We hope to inspire you to start your own celebrations.  Get to work on the tutorials, show us what you made by December 11 and check back on December 12, 2015 to see if you are a winner.

I just love the tutorial that Lois has shared with us today!  It's an easy tutorial and makes such a fun and interesting card.  This card could be for a couple of different types of celebrations.  I made it with a congratulatory card for a job promotion in mind.  As I continued to build the card, I began to think that this would be a great card for a college graduate!  I have one nephew who is currently enrolled in Washington State University and he will graduate in a couple of years.  I don't know that I will be hanging on to this card for that long, but I can easily make another.

The celebration I have chosen for today is an engagement.  I wanted a congratulatory card that was personalized for the couple.  My sister and her fiance became engaged last week.  They reside in Florida and live to be outdoors.  I chose this wonderful boat scene from Island Life.  I used the emboss resist technique and mounted the block letters above the image.

Enjoy the Hop and come back each day for more "celebrating". We hope to inspire you to start your own celebrations.  Get to work on the tutorials, show us what you made by December 11 and check back on December 12, 2015 to see if you are a winner.

November More Than One Score And A Book "Card" Tutorial

Hello Crafty Friends!  It's November 1st and time with another Scor-Pal More Than One Score challenge.  I did a little bit of research and found out that November is Family Stories Month and Picture Book month.  I decided to go with a theme of books or mini albums.  Any project, with more than one score, along that line will be fabulous! Today, I have made a Book "Card".  I promise that it is fun and not hard at all.  Let's get started!
For this project, you will need:

  • Scor-Pal
  • Scor-Tape
  • Two 5" x 7" pieces of card stock for accordion folded frame
  • Two 7" x 7" pieces of card stock for accordion folded frame
  • One 12" x 7 1/2" piece of card stock for book cover
  • One 5" x 7 " piece of card stock or designer paper for back of accordion folded frame
  • Two 1" x 7" pieces of card stock or designer paper for top of accordion folded frame
  • Two 1" x 5" pieces of card stock or designer paper for top of accordion folded frame
  • Rhinestone embellishments
  • Alphabet Letter die
  • Xyron Sticker Maker
  • Scalloped edge punch
  • Dimensional Adhesive
  • Wide grosgrain ribbon
  • Sanding Block

  • Place one 7" x 7" piece of card stock in your Scor-Pal and score at one inch intervals (1", 2", 3", 4", 5" and 6").
Flip over the same piece of card stock and score again at one inch intervals, this time starting with the 1/2" mark (1/2", 1 1/2", 2 1/2", 3 1/2", 4 1/2", 5 1/2" and 6 1/2").  Repeat the previous two steps with the second piece of 7" x 7" piece of card stock.
Place the 5" x 7" piece of card stock in the Scor-Pal with the 7 " side against the top fence.  Score at one inch intervals (1", 2", 3", 4", 5" and 6").
Crease the folds on each piece of card stock, carefully, with the Scor-Tool and create the four accordion folded sides of the frame.

Adhere a small piece of Scor-Tape to bottom fold of a 5" x 7" accordion folded side.
Remove adhesive backing and attach to the bottom fold of a 7" x 7" accordion folded side.  Take care to line up the corners as neatly as possible.  You will repeat this will all four sides of the frame and when it is finished it will look like the pages of the book.

Here is the finished accordion folded frame.  It might look a bit warped from all the handling, but it will be take care of in steps to come.
Line one side of the accordion folded frame with Scor-Tape.
Remove the adhesive backing and attach the a 5" x 7" piece of designer paper, right side down.

At this point, you will want to decorate the inside of the accordion folded frame.  Then line the top of the frame with Scor-Tape.

Remove adhesive backing and attach the 1" x 5" pieces of designer paper to the top and bottom of the frame.  Attach the 1" x 7" pieces of designer paper to the sides of the frame.  The designer paper in this example was punched with a border punch.

Place the 12" x 7" piece of card stock for the book cover into the Scor-Pal with the 12" side against the top fence.  Score at 5 1/2" and 6 1/2".

Crease the folds in the card stock to resemble the cover of  a book.
Cut two lengths of ribbon, apply Scor-Tape to each of the inside flaps of the cover, remove adhesive backing and attach ribbon.
Take finished accordion folded frame and apply Scor-tape to the bottom of it.
Remove adhesive backing and secure to the right hand inside flap of the book cover.  A second piece was created to attach to the left hand inside flap of the book cover.
Four small lines were scored into the spine and then sanded to highlight them.
Finally, finish the front cover of your Book "Card" as desired.
This concludes my tutorial for the November 2015 More Than One Score Challenge.

    Happy Scoring!

Details: Paper: Chocolate Chip, Recollections White, Parisian Breeze Designer Paper; Accessories: Scor-Pal, Scor-Tape, Prima Say It With Crystals rhinestone embellishments, Naturally Serif Alphabet die, Chocolate Chip grosgrain ribbon, stampin' dimensionals, Xyron Sticker Makers, sanding block, scalloped edge border punch.

I have been looking forward to posting this card.  There are so many reasons that I love it.  First, I think the stork image is adorable and it's very easy to color.  I love the soft gray and pink colors together (it reminds me of the 80's).  Finally, that little button embossing strip really lends a fabulous touch and interest to the card.  If you didn't start at the beginning of the hop, you will want to go back and catch every creative bit.

I'm still thinking about older kids.  I could give this to my daughter or she could give it to one of her friends. She's at that in between age where she wants to "hang out", but still thinks that little monkeys are really cute. For today's card, I did quite a bit of work that may not be readily apparent.  I embossed and sponged a background to look a bit like vines and leaves.  I also fussy cut the tree and monkey.  The leaves I trimmed from the top of a picket fence die.  My monkey has a rounded belly and paws and sunken ears.  I did this with the rounded top of a gel pen and a thick foam pad.  In person, it looks pretty cool!
